Our editorial and review standards
We are a company that sells a probiotic, and we also publish what the research shows. Those two things can pull against each other. This page is how we keep them honest.
How we write about science
We cite our sources. Every scientific claim in a post links to the primary study or an authoritative review, by name. If we cannot cite it, we do not claim it.
We say how strong the evidence is. Not all research carries the same weight. We tell you when a finding comes from a laboratory study, an animal study, an observational study in people, or a controlled human trial, because the difference matters.
We separate what is established from what is early. Where the science is still open, we say so. We would rather tell you what is not yet known than imply more certainty than exists.
We describe our own research accurately. Our published work to date is preclinical. We call it preclinical, because that is what it is. Our human study is IRB approved and will commence Fall 2026. We will report human results when we have them, and not before.
We do not make health claims we cannot support. Works is a dietary supplement, not a drug. Nothing we publish is intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease, and we do not present the product as doing so.
Who reviews our posts
Every post carries two names: the writer, and a reviewer with the relevant scientific credentials. The reviewer checks that the claims match the cited evidence and that the evidence is represented fairly.
Conflicts of interest
We are not a neutral party. We sell a probiotic, and it is in our commercial interest for you to think well of the microbiome and of precision formulation. We disclose that plainly here so you can weigh it. We keep our educational posts product-agnostic wherever we can, and we reserve product mentions for posts that are clearly about the product.
Corrections
If we get something wrong, we fix it and say what changed. Corrections are noted on the post with the date. If you think we have made an error, write to support@worksprobiotics.com.
